Saturday thoughts

1. Yesterday was the official release date of Mountain Magic: Spellbinding Tales of Appalachia, the anthology that contains my poem "Margaret Rose". I haven't gotten my copy yet, but it's on the way. I love the Mountain Magic website for referring to me as one of "thirteen master storytellers". Those of you with any interest in purchasing a copy for your very ownsome can do so at the Woodland Press site.

2. Remember that post from Sense & Sensibility I promised you? Yeah, well . . . it ain't happening. We'll get to Chapter 12 on Monday.

3. I'm going to an event on Tuesday at the Free Library in Philadelphia where I get to see and hear A.S. Byatt. I'm currently reading her short story collection, Little Black Book of Stories, and I'm already majorly in love with Possession. I've got a copy of The Children's Book as well, but haven't read it yet.

4. I hope you've all been nominating books for the CYBILS awards. Nominations are open until Friday, so you still have a few days to get your choices in (assuming you haven't already done so).

Kelly -- might you be willing to create some kind of signed label that we could stick inside our books, if we provide you $ for postage?

..off to order myself a copy.... congratulations!!

Congratulations on the Mountain Magic release!

How wonderful to hear A. S. Byatt! And when are you going to lead us through The Children's Book? Or maybe your report -- I'm hoping for one! -- will give me a nudge. It's on my stack(s), too. I started it, loved it, but, not to sound like a slacker, it's just so big. I keep thinking of all the other books I'll be missing while I read it. But the season of cold is beginning, so I think it's getting on time.

Thank you!

I haven't started The Children's Book either. I will, however, report back on the Byatt thing. I am terribly excited about it, since I find her writing to be totally daunting inspiring.

I feel lucky indeed to be seeing/hearing her. I remain majorly in love with Possession, and am rather besotted with Little Black Book of Stories as well!

I also love her with mad love. I'm very excited that I bought tickets to the event (at the Free Library - oh, irony, you so crack me up). I will report back on my evening!

Congratulations on the poem, and thanks for the Cybills reminder! And how fabulous to hear Byatt speak. Once I'm more able to get out and about, I hope to do the same the next time she's in Oxford. In the meantime I swoon via radio.

I hope you're more able to get out and about soon. And lucky you, to be able to catch her on the radio!

I giggle every single time I read that. Which I do on days when I'm down.

Congratulations! :)

I just bought THE CHILDREN'S BOOK because I "heard" someone talking about it on Twitter or LJ. It was probably you!

It probably was me and/or Sonia Gensler, since we were both mentioning it. I think she may have read it already.

There seems to be some interest in doing it as a group read. I am wondering about doing an online book club for it. I've never belonged to a book club before (nobody's invited me, and everyone I know locally who's a reader is already IN a club), so it might be fun?

I'd love to do something like that!
