Know what I love?

Writer friends who read manuscripts while they are still very much in their early days, and give you wonderful, warm, encouraging feedback. This morning during shared writing time with angeladegroot, she read a scene where a particular character entered the page, and I got to watch her grin and hear her laugh over his overbearing entrance. And this evening, I read comments from another dear friend who read all the words of my WIP so far (except for the five hundred or so I wrote today) and made me feel like just maybe I'm not completely out of my fool mind to be attempting a contemporary YA romance. That is based on an Austen novel. (No. Not Pride & Prejudice.)

I feel lucky, lucky, lucky indeed to have writer friends in my life. And that includes all of you writer-friends who read and comment on my blog.

Isn't it wonderful to know you have encouraging voices to turn to? My sister, even though she has never given me a negative (constructive) critique in my life, is always there to encourage me, and make me feel like this thing I'm doing is worthwhile.

I love encouraging people. It's amazing how easy it can be to surround yourself with non-encouraging ones, isn't it?

It's reassuring to write something you think is funny and then have someone else laugh at it!

I'm grinning with you at the knowledge that Angela is really enjoying your contemporary YA. I knew you could do it. :)

Thanks for being such a great cheerleader, Jeni! Angela only read the one scene; my friend Tanita read thirteen chapters, though, and it's given me the kick I needed to jump back in after a few weeks of drifting about.

This made me happy for you and sad for me. Because I miss my Lisa, who has been a helpful reader to me for so long.

Keep writing, Kelly - you can do it!!

Sorry about the sadness - I can only imagine what that loss must be like. Know that I'm no Lisa, but I'd be happy to read for you. Truly.

Thank you Kelly - and the same goes for you. I'd be happy to read for you anytime.

I'm fine for now. She read my WIP in December, before her diagnosis, actually. And I'm very motivated now to get it done and sell it, so I can let her know she had a part in that. :)
