Startled by His Furry Shorts picks up mere hours after the conclusion of Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers. Georgia spends the first half of the book wondering whether Masimo will agree to be her boyfriend or not, and 100% of this book without having an actual boyfriend. There's the weirdness with Dave the Laugh, of course, and a bit of snogging. And the situation with Masimo (and a bit of snogging). And then there's the missing Sex God, Robbie, to whom Georgie finally writes. Of course, after an entire book alone, it figures that the book ends . . . well, let's just say that when it rains, it pours.

The story includes a performance of Macbeth, wedding plans for Rosie and Sven (who is wearing the "furry shorts" referenced in the title - oh ja!), a visit from the fire department, some hopping first-levels and, of course, more fun with Libby and/or Angus and/or Gordy (the teenage kitten).

Libby came in to show me her clown shoes. Uncle Eddie has been buying her things from the joke shop. Normally it would have made me laugh, especially as she also had those glasses with eyes that come out on springs. I said, "Not today, Bibbsy. I've got a headache. You have to be quiet."

Amazingly she did go away, saying "Sssshhhhh" and trying to tiptoe on her enormous shoes. She got out into the hall still creeping and saying "Sssshhhhh." Then she closed the door really quietly.

Then she yelled, "Mummmmmeeeeee!!!"

Mum yelled back, "What is it, Bibbs?"

"Ginger's got a headache. FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, SHUT UP!"

Where does she get all this appalling language from?

The massive cliffhanger at the end of this compels me to proceed immediately to Love is Many Trousered Thing. Do not pass go. Do not collect £200.

They have made me laugh until my abs ache, and also made me think deep thoughts and writerly thoughts and whatnot - I'll be getting around to a bit of that in my next post, I think. Or at least the one after that.

And the first two books have been ordered from the library. I'm excited now.

Ooh! I hope you like them at least half as much as I do. (That would still be a lot.)
