At the Boardwalk cover reveal

Dudes!

I finally have permission to share the cover of my picture book, At the Boardwalk, with you. It's due out from tiger tales books in March of 2012. I happen to think that Mónica Armiño is a genius.
And here it is:

You should see the end papers - it's self-ending, and Mónica's artwork for that is a series of snapshots and sand and shells and flip flops and . . .

*gasp!* I loooooove it! There's such a great sense of activity and motion. I haven't read the story, but the cover makes me think the story will tell me about all the exciting, fun things that happen at the boardwalk.

Yay! Cover love!

You are correct about the cover AND the story. It's a rhyming picture book that moves throughout a day at the boardwalk.

p.s. I extra super duper love the diversity - kids, parents, grandparents, white kids, brown kids, darker brown kids, blondes, brunettes, boys, girls... It gives the book (and the boardwalk) a very welcoming feel.

That's one of the things I extra super duper love myself. And unless they changed the artwork from last time I saw the interior, there's a M/M couple near the end as well, which is one of my fave things about the illustrations.

LOVE IT! Perfect! Totally captures the spirit of the boardwalk. I can smell Johnsons Caramel Corn now...

Wait until you see the endpapers - it's self-ending, and they include a bunch of snapshots, some sand and seashells, a pair of flip flops . . .

Beautiful!
What a fun cover, Kelly. It reminds me of trips I've taken to Coney Island.

Re: Beautiful!
Wait until you see the insides! (Not that it's likely to be anytime soon, but whoa - the artwork is spectacular!)

I love that the title makes the cover look like a postcard, and I love what a rainbow the people are :)

When I wrote the text, I had Ocean City, NJ in mind. (I live in South Jersey now, and have gone there since I was small and living in PA). The boardwalk image seems to resonate with people who've been to a variety of places - and Mónica is from Madrid, so I'm not positive where "her" boardwalk is set, but it is really and truly wonderful.
