5 things on a Friday - it's a mixed bag

1. Perhaps the bestest thing to happen professionally so far in my life: I GOT COPIES OF MY BOOK IN THE MAIL! Massive thanks to my editor, Jamie Michalak, who sent me the copies she received in order to proof the color, etc., of the book before it really went to production. I now have a hardcover and a paperback copy of At the Boardwalk to hug and love and call George. A dedicated post with pictures will (eventually) turn up here, but for now, know that I am still jumping up and down about it.

2. That jumping up and down I just mentioned? Yeah . . . it's totally figurative, not literal. See, my rheumatoid arthritis is still in a flare and so far the meds haven't really caught up with it, and I haven't written anything new in weeks and weeks now, and I am feeling behind in many, many things, in addition to dealing with fatigue and pain levels that are entirely aggravating. I feel very fortunate, just now, that I do not have an out-of-the-house job, since I'm so far behind on the simple in-the-house stuff.

3. Last weekend was "family weekend" at College of Charleston, so M and I flew down to visit S, who is totally loving school. It made me very happy to see her so well-settled, and to meet her (very nice) friends, and to find out that she seems to have a great handle on school and appears to be doing well.

4. I got to meet a lot of truly wonderful people this week at two Rosh Hashanah dinners. I love wonderful people, don't you?

5. Kismet tested positive for roundworm. I don't even really want to know what it is, I just want to treat her and get it gone. Ew.

6. Bonus thing: I got another sponsor for my participation in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk coming up on October 23rd. Here's the link to my "participant page", if you're interested: http://tinyurl.com/42c9u77

for the copies, college visit, nice people and a new sponsor.

for RA nastiness and ringworm. Yuck.

(Sorry, the snowy letters look rather festive, but they were the least sparkly I could find! )

I love bogwitch's sparkles.

How wonderful to see your book for real. It's a very special feeling, esp to see the illustrations making your words come to life.

I'm sorry about the RA. I hope you are able to find pain relief. Just pace yourself. Hugs.

Awesome! I can't wait to see At the Boardwalk in real life. RA aside, you have lots of things to cheer about from last week.
BTW, wondeful people attract wonderful people.

Hooray for the copies arriving! That is awesome!

But oh, so much empathy on the health issues. I've been in a somewhat similar situation with the ME/CFS - I had a goal of writing 2500 words this past week, and instead I only managed 550 and also had to cancel an Author Event. It's so frustrating to feel so behind because of something we can't control. *HUGS*

But hooray for S loving school!

So glad that S loves school! And I can't wait to see more pictures of your book!

I hope you'll feel better soon, too. That must be insanely frustrating.

The roundworm should be easy to treat, but you may not want to buy any spaghetti for a while.

Also, remember to be nice to yourself about falling behind on things because of circumstances you can't control. That cultural brainwashing of "I must be on top of everything at all times and if I'm not I'm a Bad Person" is a really quick way to add depression to fatigue and pain - I'm sure you already know that. Just tell the little voice to shut up, and focus on getting better!

Congrats on getting to actually hold and hug your book! And call it George! :D

I hope you get through this whole fatigue and arthritis flare up quickly. :( I wish there was something I could do!

Hugs to you and Kismet. xo
