Writing-related stuff that I do

Not exactly an artful marketing slogan, but apt.

As long-time readers of my blog know, I write for kids. Poetry and picture book manuscripts, mostly, but I do have some other manuscripts in need of attention, completion, and revision. And come the end of next month, I should finally have more time to devote (mentally and physically) to writing, once my house is sold and my move is complete. I have (so far) one picture book out, and I've had a wee bit of luck with anthologies, but would love to be asked to write/submit for more of them. But I digress.

See, I also do other writing-related stuff. Like school visits. I love doing school visits to talk about poetry, or about how kids can improve their writing using poetic devices, like similes and metaphors, or choosing "better" words to convey their characters' actions.

I also am available for hire to do editorial consulting. I have critiqued rhyming picture book manuscripts for authors (who in a few cases have gone on to successfully sell those manuscripts), as well as consulting on texts by Kevin Slattery, an artist who has self-published several graphic novels (or, as he sometimes calls them, 'zines) that showcase his work.

Looking ahead at this year and 2015, my calendar is pretty open. So, you know, if you're interested in booking a school visit or hiring an editorial consultant, I hope you will keep me in mind.

*steps down off marketing soapbox*

And THANK YOU.

And let me say, she's the best! Well worth every cent! But stand in line, I've got a new project I need her services on.
