College poem

Today was spent at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where we took a tour and attended the open house for prospective students. No, it's not for me or my sweetheart; it's for my beloved's granddaughter, Ashley. In honor of Poetry Friday, I wrote this wee verse:

We took our girl to college
to take a campus tour.
She sure improved her knowledge
of what she's looking for.

College poem
That can be taken two ways: either she loved it and she knows this is where she needs to be, or she hated it and knows what to avoid elsewhere. Either way I guess it's a win!

Re: College poem
Exactly - it's her first school visit, so in some ways it has set a standard, and in others, she's not certain if it's as great as she thought it was. No matter what, it's helping her to figure out what she MIGHT want in a school.

I can't help but think, "And yet, she has absolutely NO idea, really, what she's in for!" Oh, the excitement of that jumping-off point in life!!

No kidding. Of course, that's still true for many of us, right?

Also? There's a completely different feel taking my sweetheart's granddaughter around than there was with my own kids, in part because I'm not truly involved in the decision-making.
