Thursday morning at Panera, questioning

Once upon a time, back when I started this blog, I used to just type stuff about my day. And then somewhere along the line, I started adding actual content. And then most everyone abandoned Live Journal, and my online community shifted elsewhere and became harder to keep up with, because friends stopped blogging altogether or started blogging on various and sundry other platforms.

I miss them, and the sense of community that used to exist here. That said, I realize my membership fees for the no-ad version and extra user pics is coming due in the next month, and I am starting to wonder if I should move on from this particular island, as it has become apparent that nobody is swimming back, and move on to WordPress or Blogger (where I have a domain with some duplicate content, but as it never autopopulated, I didn't always dupe it).

Thoughts and feelings? Anyone? Bueller?

If you leave, you will be missed. I understand though. Most of the authors that were here have left, as has most of my friends list. =(

I quit blogging there for a long time. I've done it twice. Only to come back both times. =)

Whatever your decision, I wish you the best!

My account here is still active, just to keep the archives online, though I'm thinking of eventually deleting it.

Come over to Wordpress! I've never regretted the move. Tech support is good, and there's a writing community there too. It's not hard to migrate your entire LJ over there if you want to.

Having said that, recently they've modified the blogging software to accommodate people who blog from mobile devices (they claim most people read blogs on their phones). For people who write longer posts on their desktops or laptops there are some minor inconveniences -- though maybe I consider them inconvenient because when I started on WP 4 years ago they had a different text editor which I like better. I've kept my old blog theme because I don't want to lose the original "classic editor" which I'm used to.

People have said good things about square space, though I don't know whether there's a community of writers there to tap into.

As Jama has done, I'm keeping some of my archive online here, with links to it on my active blog on Blogger.

I still check over here to read my friends list, but it is getting smaller and smaller.

I've made some new friends on Blogger, so it's not a total waste. ;-)

I have no plans to abandon LJ, and I'd be sad if you left. I wish more folks were active here. I have connected with many LJ friends elsewhere, but this was my first real online community, and I have a great attachment to it.
